Restricted Keyway Systems in St. Louis
Restricted keyway locks are designed to prevent unauthorized duplication of keys to be made. Created for added security, our keyway locks utilize a key that is controlled by a single locksmith so you can rest assured that Sure Lock and Key is the only locksmith with access to your keyway.
How Restricted Keyways Work:
- When you register for a restricted key system, we will have you fill out an authorization card. Only those listed on this card will be allowed to get keys duplicated.
- Once the card has been filled out, we will assign you your own personal and unique system number; this system number is unique to your key system and will never be duplicated.
- Using special cylinders that only our keyway fits, we will pin the locks to your special restricted key that can only be cut by Sure Lock and Key. These cylinders can also be set up on a master key system if you need it.
- If you need to order additional keys at any point after the locks have been keyed, you send us a key request, we cut the keys from our records, log the new keys, and call you to come pick them up. Once in the shop we will check your ID to verify and you will be good to go.
Authorization List
At Sure Lock and Key, your safety is our top priority. For your added protection we establish an authorization list for every restricted keyway access system. The authorization list establishes who does and does not have access to the keyway and whether they are authorized for receiving and duplicating keys. This allows your business total key control, so that you know exactly how many keys exist at all times and who ordered them.
- If someone tries to take it to another locksmith or key-cutter, they will send the person to Sure Lock and Key.
- If someone comes to us to get the key made, we ask for ID to make sure that they are on the authorization list.
- If all checks out, we will make the keys; if not, we will kindly let the person know that an authorized person must order the keys.
What Does A Restricted Keyway System Cost?
Restricted keyway systems can be very affordable. These systems are similar in cost to mid-grade lock cylinders and in some cases they can even be installed into existing locks. The price of a restricted keyway system depends on the following:
- The type of locks
- The number of keys
- The type of keying required
